Reflecting on 2018......
I don't know about you but this year kind of feels like a blur to me. 2018 was an interesting year for sure!
Full of extreme highs and lows.....one thing is for sure, 2018 kept us on our toes.
I know it's pretty cheesy, but I always love to take some time to reflect on the past year.... the good times, the hard times and the things that I learned along the way.
It helps me to put things in perspective, see the blessings that I may not have been able to see at the time and to see what areas of life I want to work on.
Taking time to reflect on the past year can be a pretty bittersweet thing, but it can be so beneficial.
So....before I share with you my reflections on this past year, I want to give you a few questions to think about, in case you want reflect on this past year too.
1) What good things happened this year? (favorite memories, big & small blessings, etc.)
2) What were some of the hard things about this year? (where/what was a big struggle for me? .... Be super honest with yourself here)
3) What did I learn from this past year?
4) What do I want to change/ how to I want to grow this coming year?
If you haven't done it yet, take about 15-20 minutes to go through these questions and write down your answers. It's amazing how many times you will see a common thread in your answers. This is a great way to get excited about a brand new year and new possibilities ahead.
Here's my reflection on 2018:
What good things happened this year?
San Diego trip.
We finally moved out of Las Vegas!
We moved to Texas (hello friendly people and southern cooking!)
Got in a little bit better homeschool routine.
Explored a little bit of the surrounding area in TX & OK.
Seeing the girls play more together.
Seeing the girls grow in their personalities and being able to control emotions better. (they grow so fast)
Family Nights on Fridays.
Finally got some more clarity on business.
Reconnected with some good friends.
Found a great church family.
Met some great new friends.
Celebrated 11 years of marriage & 17 years of being a couple.
Got to visit home 2 times in the past 6 months!
Roadtrip to Disney!
All the coffee.
Getting back in a good routine after moving.
All the snuggles from the girls.
A snow day!!!
Another friend thanksgiving with The Chicks.
One of my besties is pregnant!... and of course I cried when I found out.
What were some hard things about this year?
Packing up and starting over again.
Adjusting to a new area, not knowing anyone.
Sicknesses in our little family.
Not being able to be with family when they are struggling with sicknesses.
Dealing with the girl's emotions from moving.
Dealing with all the things moving, mom life, business and trying to take care of myself in the process (feeling like the weight of everything is on my shoulders).
Struggles with homeschool.
Struggles with some attitudes.
Papaw passing away.
What did I learn in 2018?
God answers all prayers in His time.
It's okay to take time to rest for longer periods of time.
I can handle hard things.
Even when I doubt myself.... one step at a time, I can make it through.
Patience is essential!
Change can be hard but good.
I don't need to do all the things, all the time - Focus on one thing at a time.
I'm not good at everything - Help is good!
Relaxed homeschooling works.
Friends that feel like family are amazing.
What do I want to change/how do I want to grow in 2019?
Get in a better homeschooling routine - what works best for L's personality and learning style.
Buckle down and get even more serious about finances.
Explore more the the surrounding area of TX & OK.
Visit friends I haven't seen in a while.
More consistent devotionals.
More clarity & focus with business - Help as many people as possible!
More Focus/ Less Distractions.
Don't get caught up in what others are doing.
2018 sure has been a whirlwind of a year for us. Looking back on it all, our little family went through some major changes, and all things considering....I think we handled it all fairly well. I'm excited for the New Year and the many possibilities ahead.
