When it seems like others have it all....
Do you ever hop on Facebook or Instagram and see someone going on a fancy trip... or that they got a new car... or that they are doing something new?
Drives you crazy sometimes right?!
It's human nature... we all have times when we see someone and think "wow, they have it easy. Must be nice...."
And that's it... you're lost in the comparison.... AGAIN!
Sure it might look like things are easier for others but there may be more to the story that you don't see.
Here's a little secret that I've noticed.....
When it looks like others have it all or are doing all the fun things it usually means 1 of 3 things:
1) They worked incredibly hard to get where they are.
2) They are in debt up to their eyeballs (no thank you, Dave Ramsey told me NO!)
or
3) Someone is still getting help from mommy and daddy.
I know that it can be so easy to get caught up in seeing what others are doing when you are in the thick of keeping up with daily life. But trust me here..... you are so very blessed!!!
We have so much to be thankful for these days and certainly have way more than we deserve. Heck, the fact that you are reading this right now shows how many blessings you have going for you..... it means that you probably have a computer or smartphone, you have good enough eyesight or some nice glasses where you can see to read, you have an internet connection and if you have all of that... more than likely you are probably also warm, fed and clothed.
In all seriousness.... I know it can difficult not to compare. It's always easier to see the things we don't have. We can be quick to notice how "easy" that other person has it. It can be hard to feel content sometimes when you feel like all you're doing is your best to keep up with the day to day.
But never forget how blessed you are.
You want to work on being more content?.... count your blessings big and small.
I'm not joking here; this really can change things. When you continually acknowledge your blessings you realize very quickly how good you have it.
Don't compare yourself to what others are doing......
You keep working hard, being kind and counting those blessings along the way.
