How to keep Christmas Simple
The older I get, the more I appreciate the beauty of a simple Christmas.
A Christmas not full of "hustle and bustle" but filled with all things "calm and bright."
When we live in such a busy world, we all need more of those old-time slower moments.
Here's how we keep Christmas time simple but memorable.....
Reminders/ Traditions of the past
Christmas is a very sentimental time for some... we like to remember the past Christmases in simple ways. We have some of my grandparents' Christmas ornaments on our tree, and an old candy jar full of candy, just like my mamaw and papaw had in their den. Of course, all the delicious food and classic Christmas music help everyone feel the Christmas Spirit in a simple way.
New simple traditions
Along with carrying over some older traditions, we have started a few that we hold dear. Last year we started doing "The Giving Manger," and it has quickly become a favorite for everyone. Simple Christmas crafts are fun for our little ones, and now we have some new "must watch" Christmas movies of our own.
Simple decor
I love decorating for holidays, but I also don't like to get overwhelmed with it, so I usually keep it simple, functional, and cute. Along with our regular yearly Christmas decor that we set out, we add little things here and there. This year I decided to get crafty with some wooden snowflakes and dried oranges. Super simple, budget-friendly, and very cute.
Time together
When it comes down to it, the most important thing is just spending quality time with people you care about. It doesn't have to get together big or anything. It could simply be just your family, or maybe you have Christmas with a friend. The time you spend and the memories you make, it what makes a holiday one to remember.
Christmas isn't a time to be rushed and stressed about. Get back to the good old time slow holiday, you might discover that a simple Christmas is just what you need.
