How to not care about what others think about you
Two quick questions...
1) Do you care about what others think about you?
2) Why?
I get it....we all want to be liked, so in a way, we all care about what others think about us. But one of the best things that you can do for yourself is to let go of what others think about you.
Honestly.... if you are doing your best to live by what's right, you are being a kind person and doing your best... then does it really matter what others think of you?
Not caring about other people’s opinion will serve you so well throughout your life, no matter what stage you are in. It not only helps to let go of some stress but it also helps to build confidence in yourself & in the unique person God has created you to be.
But, how do you do this?
Here are a few helpful things that have helped me care less about what others think of me:
1) Do what is right
For me this is all about following God’s word & living by my core values. Doing and being the best the best person I can be and being kind to others. It's all about being the good in this world. It’s living by the things are the "line in the sand," for you…. the things that are just non-negotiable. Knowing and living by these things are key to helping you stay on track and not compromising your character.
2) Be kind to others (even when you don't feel like it)
Hopefully, this is included in your core values but it's important enough to mention twice (this world needs more kindness in it). We all have moments when it's super hard to be kind, but trust me....kindness goes a long way. If someone has been mean towards you, don't do the same in return. Odds are their words or actions are coming from a place of hurt..... get em' with kindness, because….. 1) they probably need some extra kindness in their life and 2) it drives people nuts when they can't get you mad. (added bonus but also pretty hilarious)
3) Own up when you are wrong
We are human and we all make mistakes, so don't be so proud to never own up to them. If you make a mistake and you are in the wrong.... just own up to it, learn your lesson and move on.
These things are not easy to do by any means, but if you get these things down, you can stand strong in who you are and stop worrying about what others think about you.
