Realistic Morning routine for a productive day

We all know that we should have a good morning routine to set our day off right, but it's not always the easiest thing.... especially when you aren't a morning person and when you are busy (you feel me, mamas???)

I am not a morning person..... Honestly, it normally takes me a while to wake up and get going for the day. And getting even more honest here, before we had kids I didn't even think about a morning routine. It really wasn't until we had kids and I got sick and tired of not getting anything done or basically starting my day in the afternoon, that I came to the conclusion that I needed a good morning routine.

I wish there was a clear cut, lay it out for your morning routine that can magically transform all the things for you, but.... let's face it, we are all different and all have different situations in our lives. So what works for one might not work for another.

So, instead of laying out a morning routine for you and hoping that it fits your life too... I figured I would give you some basic guidelines that can be applied to anybody's morning routine.

Here is the most realistic morning routine for busy women (and fellas) that starts your day off right to be productive:

Step 1: A good morning routine starts the night before.

End your night right, so your morning is even easier. It's doing things now to make things easier for you later. Clean up your kitchen and get to bed at a decent time. For all my mamas out there this means that you need to get your little ones on a good bedtime schedule too..... trust me, you need it just as much as they do.

Step 2: Get up early.

You went to bed at a decent hour right?!... so you can spare to get up a little bit earlier than everyone else in the house. By doing this you are letting yourself have some nice quiet time to ease into the day. I personally, like to immediately begin making coffee.

Step 3: Do something that is good for your mind and soul.

For me, I do a devotional and practice some gratitude. By starting the day with a devotional and acknowledging the things in my life that I am thankful for, it gets me in a good headspace and just makes me feel better & happier (even if it's way early in the morning... did I mention I'm not actually a morning person?!).

Step 4: Do something that is good for your body.

Fuel your body with good food. Get moving and get in a workout. This will not only help you to wake up more but will also make you feel more focused and ready to take on the day.

Step 5: Get 1-2 small things marked off of your to-do list

Make sure you keep these tasks very small, things you can get done in about 15-20 minutes. This is going to help you feel more productive for the day, and Hey... you already did something for the day! It's a win-win.

Again...There is no one schedule fits all. We all have different situations and are in different stages of life....but, by using these essentials things in your morning routine (adjust as needed), you will feel more productive and ready to have an awesome day.

And...Just to give you an idea of what my morning routine looks like I've added a little schedule below. As you can see the 4th and 5th step is switched for me right now. Life changed a bit and so did my routine.

What does your morning normally look like? Are there some things that you need to switch up to help you have a more productive morning & day? Put these tips into practice, make it a habit and before you know it you will be rocking the morning routine!
