Tips to help you use your time wisely

I hear it often….. “I just don’t have enough time to do everything.”

I get it…. And I know how frustrating it is to feel like you are constantly running, staying up late & still not getting everything done that you want to.

Think with me for a second…. How many times have you found yourself sitting down, catching up on your latest Netflix favorite, thinking “man… I really need to get up and get some things done.”

Yep…I’ve been there too.

I understand the want, dare I say….need, to just have some downtime (because being real here, we all need some downtime). But the problem is when we give ourselves too much downtime and then we accomplish nothing. Or….when we start to get some things done then get distracted and end up not getting anything done.

It all comes down to using our time wisely.

(Totally just had a flashback to elementary school when my teacher would remind us to use our time wisely on the end of grade testing......Not my favorite times)

Here are some simple ways to help you use your time wisely, so you can start checking off all those to-dos:

  • Put the phone down

    • In fact… just go ahead and flip the phone over & leave it in the other room. I’m just going to go out on a limb here and guess this is one of the biggest distractions (along with tv) so simply remove the distraction until you get the job done.

  • Set a time limit

    • I love me some time blocking! Basically….. time blocking is just setting a time limit on whatever you are working on. You don’t have to finish a task all at once, but you need to at least start. Focus and work hard during the time frame that you have set aside, once the time is up… take a break, grab a snack and come back to it or move on to the next thing.

  • Reward yourself

    • That’s right… treat yo’self! Nothing is more motivating, then if you have something to look forward to afterward. Maybe it’s a little bit of tv time…maybe it’s 20 minutes to browse Instagram, maybe it’s a snack (can I get an Amen?!). Work hard & then reward yourself.

  • STOP MULTI-TASKING

    • You hear me, ladies?!? I know, I know, we can do all the things right?! Just Kidding!... Y'all…. We cannot do all the things, especially all at once, so stop…. Just stop! Take care of one thing at a time, trust me it will help you be more productive & a little more sane.

These may sound like simple tips, but they really do work. Try doing some of these when you need to get something done and see how much more productive you feel afterward.
