20 simple self-care ideas

Self Care is all the rage right now, and for good reason... for many of us (especially talking to you mamas), we often do for others and take little care of ourselves.

We all know that when we take care of ourselves, we can show up better for others, yet life gets so busy we feel like there is no time for self-care. Combine lack of time with our amazing ability to over-complicate things, and we end up doing little to nothing for ourselves.

WHAT IS SELF CARE?

Self-care can mean a few different things to me...

Deeper, more intentional self-care: think of this more as "self-improvement...This takes more effort and more time.

Simple self-care: this is more of the typical "take a bath & read a book" kind of self-care.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

When we take care of ourselves, we can better show up for others. Taking the time to do some self-care is giving yourself the time to regroup, relax, and feel more refreshed. Think of it as a battery.... if a battery is constantly being used without recharging it, it's going to drain pretty quickly until it can't do its job anymore. Same with us... If we don't take the time to recharge...we can't show up and do the things we need to do.

Self-care can look different for everyone, and it doesn't have to be complicated or even take much time, but it is essential! Start small and simple at first, and you will soon see how much it helps. Here are some of my favorite and simple ways I do self-care.
